Welcome to ACSAC 2010 - we have a great program lined up this year, with fantastic speakers, papers, panels, tutorials and workshops!
We have an outstanding set of speakers this year, with Doug Maughan and Tom Longstaff as our invited speakers, along with classic papers being presented by Giovanni Vigna and Bill Cheswick.
We have a terrific program this year, with 39 accepted papers (representing an acceptance rate of < 20%), along with a wonderful line-up of panels and case studies, ranging from subjects such as the federal cyber security research agenda, to hot topics such as security in the cloud, to popular favorites such as highlights from the New Security Paradigms Workshop. There will also be a reception highlighting the works-in-progress and poster session.
As in previous years, ACSAC is also hosting a workshop before the conference, this year on governance issues surrounding technology, information and policies, as well as technical tutorials on hot topics such as virtualization, usable security and security engineering. New this year is the Layered Assurance Workshop, which will be hosted by ACSAC on December 6 - 7.
After its success last year, ACSAC will again host a fourth track providing FISMA training. Not to be confused with our technical tutorials, FISMA training is being offered as part of our ACSAC technical program, and will focus on risk management and the NIST 800 guidelines.
The FISMA training, technical tutorials, and the entire technical program qualify for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) - all you need to do is submit your attendance records for professional security certification.
Also new this year is a career fair, to be held in conjunction with the posters and works-in-progress. This is aimed at people who are anywhere in their career - from students looking to internships, to those expecting to graduate soon, to experienced professionals.
This year ACSAC will be hosted in Austin, the home of great music and great food! We will be celebrating Austin's music with some local entertainment at our conference dinner, and we will be celebrating Austin's food with a special trip to Stubb's - a classic Austin barbeque - on Friday afternoon.
I look forward to seeing you in December!
